We went to the hospital yesterday to have the bone scan done. Hopefully (crossing fingers) we will know today which bone is broke for sure so that we can start the treatment stage! This poor kid is tired of all these tests I can imagine.
I hope you all have a great Friday! I can not tell you enough how happy I am that it is Friday! I need a couple of down days to spend with the family and get caught up on things at home. :)

Update on my son

We went to the hand specialist yesterday and boy was that interesting. The place was a bit backwoods if that is the correct term I can use. My son had to get his green cast off and a new one put on. They are also doing a bone scan as soon as I can schedule it today because the hand specialist doesn't think its broke where the orthopedics thought it was broke. Its a huge difference in healing time depending on what bone is broke. If its the one that the hand specialist thinks is broke he could be healed in 3 weeks and no surgery. If its the one the orthopedics think is broke it could be 8 more weeks and possible surgery. I will be calling the hospital as soon as they open to schedule the bone scan. My husband thinks its unnecessary to do the bone scan. Sometimes we feel that just because we have insurance they order all these tests that we really don't need. But if it will tell which bone it is for sure I am for it. I just want my son to be healed!
On another note I thought you all would like to see my adorable westie Aspen. Isn't' he a goof ball! :) Gotta love him.

Poorman's Steak
The recipe was requested so here it is!
Poorman's Steak
1lb ground beef(or turkey)
1/2 C crushed crackers
1/2 C water
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
Mix all and form in really flat thin patties. You can either bake or fry in a pan. I usually fry them in a pan with spray oil. They are super yummy! :)
*I think I got this recipe from Miserly Moms many years ago but can't remember exactly*

Even the Amish want to move to Kansas
![]()
I was reading the front page of the newspaper today(click on the picture to go to the article). It said that the Amish in Somerset County are wanting to leave the area and head to states in the Midwest. One of those states is my beloved Kansas. I feel the same way they do. I can't wait to move back home to my wonderful wheat filled and sunflower state of Kansas. I grew up there and miss it terribly. There's just something to be said about good old country hospitality.

Wonderful News

My brother and sister-in-law found out yesterday that their first baby(and my first niece or nephew) is going to be a BOY! I can't tell you how excited I am that I am going to have a little nephew...finally! lol My brother is four years younger than I am and they have waited a long time to have children. I was worried I would be a grandmother before I would ever be an aunt. I can assure I will love this child as if it was one of my own!

Broken Bones

My son broke a bone in his wrist playing basketball. Here he is today with his new "green" cast. It's broke pretty bad. We were at the orthopedics today and they referred us to the hand specialist. *sigh* So on Tuesday we will be going to the specialist.

I'm feeling FROGGY!
I won donuts and a car wash this morning on my favorite country music radio station!! What a way to start the day. :) I never get in on time on these things and was surprised that I did. There were a lot of wrong answers too. My mom was a huge fan of the country singer that is the answer to this question. (yay me!) So I figured I would post the question here and see how many people know the answer. Please post your guesses in a comment! :) (Just for fun, no prize sorry!)
Question:
Allison Krauss sang "When you say nothing at all". Who made it a hit eight years before Allison Krauss?

Plums
The neighbor brought over yellow plums from her tree. What a great surprise! The kids and hubby have almost ate the whole container of them. Gotta love it when your neighbors bring you yummy presents. =)

The road back home gets closer
My goal in life is to be a stay at home mom and wife. Because of some horrible planning on our parts(chalk it up to being young) and unexpected medical bills I am not able to do that. We are slowing becoming better at planning and paying off those dreaded medical bills. I paid off three of them today and it made me feel wonderful! Every bill paid off is a step closer on the road back home. Maybe someday I will be there. :)

Car Wash and Bake Sale
My daughter's cheerleading team had a car wash/bake sale for a fundraiser on Saturday. I was the cashier lady for the day and maned the bake sale table. :) Mellissa and I made the "Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies" recipe (click here for the recipe). We put them in cute little bags and put paw print ribbon on them. They were a huge hit.
The highlight of the day was when a guy brought this threw the car wash for the girls to clean. We all thought it was very funny. :)
On a bright note, I think we might of found a church. We have had a difficult time finding a church home since we moved here and have been to many churches. One of the ladies at the car wash/bake sale yesterday was telling us about her church and we figured we would give it a try. Surprisingly the kids actually liked it and so did I! We are going to give it a few more times to see if its where we really belong or not. :)

Quite a busy day
I made Oreo Fluff yesterday. I got the recipe from Keeping It Simple. I left this in the freezer over night and we enjoyed it this afternoon. It is very good and rich!
1 bag Oreo cookies
Add the cool whip.
Break up the cookies and mix in.
Let it set for 2-3 hours in the refrigerator.
We put ours in the freezer over night and it was like ice cream :)

Farmer's Market
The plan for today was to visit a nearby berry farm and pick our own berries. But we learned the farm is closed for the this year and will reopen next year. I think I was the most disappointed of all. So we changed our plans and headed to the local farmers market and the Amish store. Both of which I love! I was also lucky enough to pick up this pressure cooker for $25 brand new still in the box! I am super excited. We needed to buy one this year and I had planned on spending quite a bit more. I love finding a bargain.

Book Club

Well i joined this book club. It meets once a month. This was our first book. I do love to read and can get quite lost in a book but with my busy schedule this last month and all my other things I am involved with I just didn't get the book read. I go tonight to the meeting and I have no clue what the book is about and I know I won't have time to read any of it. In my defense I really did try to read it, I got as far as Chapter 1. If anyone has read this and would like to give me some "notes" I would appreciate it! The life of a mom is always busy that is for sure!! :)
