Semi Homemade Cinnamon Twists

I made two batches. One with low fat crescent rolls and one regular.

1 Can Crescent Rolls
3/4 C Sugar
3TBSP Cinnamon

Mix sugar and cinnamon together. I used a plate. Unroll the crescent rolls. I then "dipped" each crescent roll in the mixture, making sure to get both sides coated. Then I rolled them up like normal and put them on a sprayed pan.

Baked 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Icing

3/4 c brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp flour
2 - 3 Tbsp melted margarine
3/4 c icing sugar

I melted the butter then added the cinnamon and flour. Then mixed in the brown sugar and icing sugar. I also added about a TBSP of water to thin it a bit. I think put a TBSP of the mix on each crescent. They had cooled a tiny bit.

I sampled this recipe from Here and Here. I decided to mix the two and use the crescent rolls. They were extremely yummy!

Its been a trying three weeks here at our home. Everyone has been sick off and on. I believe that everyone else had the flu. I had bronchitis. :( Sorry for disappearing from the blogging world! :) We are all feeling tons better now.

Baby Blanket

Here is the baby blanket I am working on for soon to be nephew Asher. He will be born in November. I can not wait to be an aunt(for the first time!). This is a new pattern and I am not sure if I like the "dips" on the ripple. They leave those holes. They aren't as noticeable when looking at the blanket in person but they are still annoying to me.

Well its Monday again and I would much rather be at home sleeping! haha It's going to be a crazy week that's for sure. Beth Moore Esther Bible Study

I recently signed up to take a Beth Moore bible study. I am two weeks into the bible study and I can say I am not disappointed. Beth Moore is a great teacher for women. I love her bible studies and encourage everyone to find one near you, you won't be disappointed. :)

Some of these I have tried and some I have not. I do plan on trying them all though and so far the ones I have tried are soooo yummy!

Green Pepper Soup

1lb lean ground beef
1/2 tsp basil
1 tsp crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp oregano
14.5 oz can diced peppers
15 oz tomato sauce
3 cups water
1 cup cooked brown rice

Cook and drain ground beef. In large pot combine all ingredients and simmer for 1 hour.

Potato Soup

1 bag Ore Ida O'brien hash browns(16 oz)
4 cans Fat Free Chicken Broth
1 Package McCormic Country Gravy

Saute potatoes and broth. Bring to a boil. Prepare gravy mix according to package directions. Add potatoes and broth to gravy. Simmer 20-30 minutes.

Cola Chicken

4 skinless chicken breasts
1 cup ketchup
12 oz diet coke

Put the chicken in a pan. Pour ketchup and coke over the top of the chicken. Bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat. Cook for 45 minutes. Uncover and turn up the heat. Continue to cook until sauce is thick and adheres to the chicken.

Chili (this is soooo good)

1 can Mexican(or Italian) stewed tomatoes
1 can fat free chicken broth
1 can fat free refried beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can black beans
1 onion
1 pack chili mix
1 lb lean ground beef

Cook beef with onion(diced). In large pot mix all ingredients and cook on low for desired time.

First Day of School

Today is my kiddo's first day of school. Its a bitter sweet day. They are in the 10th and 11th grades this year and are growing up way too fast for me. Before I know it they will be all grown up and out on their own. Isn't there some kind of machine where we can freeze them at a certain age? I would love to have my little bubbly 3 and 4 year old back again. *sigh*

On another note I had a weight watchers meeting last night and weighed in. I lost 1.4 pounds! Its not 9.2 like last week but hey its a loss so I am happy! :)

Weight Watchers

I joined weight watchers a week ago yesterday. I finally had to do something about all this extra weight I have. It was an interesting week to say the least. I had my first weigh in last night. I lost 9.2 pounds! I can't tell you how happy I am about this. :) I still have a long road ahead of me but I feel like I am on the right track. I even got up early this morning to work out to my biggest loser workout video.

Canning Green beans

We finally got some green beans from our garden! It's very exciting because this is the first year we have ever grown green beans successfully. We had two large bowls of green beans. My husband and I prepared them(what a guy!) and then canned them over the weekend. We had our first jar of them last night. I can't believe how much better they are than store bought canned green beans! My pictures aren't very good quality. My batteries were dead in the camera so I had to use the cell phone.

Steeler's Training Camp 2009

We live about 20 miles from the Steeler's training camp so we decided to go yesterday. It was so much fun!! I think I have 100 pictures but I could only fit so many on the slide show. My son got his football signed by Ryan Clark. I am pretty impressed with Clark and Ziggy. They took a lot of extra time to sign autographs some of the players didn't even stop to wave at the fans. Steve is talking about going back one day this week to see if we can get more autographs. I really wanted Ben's! lol

Sunflower

The birds decided they did not want to be left out of our gardening this year. They left us this beautiful surprise! Our bird feeder sits near our garden and I guess one of the birds "dropped" a seed in our garden. A result of this is this beautiful sunflower. I just love it! Thank you Mr. Bird for this ray of sunshine in my garden. :)

My neighbor across the street had a baby girl about a month ago. I made this crocheted blanket for her. I hope to take it over tonight. I still have to make a card to go along with it. :) I love pink baby blankets!

We needed a spot for the kids to put the mail when they get it. Other wise its a free for all as to where it might end up. Having a spot for keys would be a plus too. So I quickly created this little thing this weekend and hung it up. We will see how it works out this week. :)

I decided to change the look of the blog. I realize I just did this but I get bored easily...what can I say lol.

Its been a busy day for us cleaning house. With all the doctor's appointments and such that we have had this last two weeks house work has suffered. We all took a room and set to work. The house looks sooo much better! I just love a clean house. :)

Now we are just relaxing and watching "The Incredibles". I love that movie. :)

TGIF and Bone Scans

We went to the hospital yesterday to have the bone scan done. Hopefully (crossing fingers) we will know today which bone is broke for sure so that we can start the treatment stage! This poor kid is tired of all these tests I can imagine.

I hope you all have a great Friday! I can not tell you enough how happy I am that it is Friday! I need a couple of down days to spend with the family and get caught up on things at home. :)

Update on my son

We went to the hand specialist yesterday and boy was that interesting. The place was a bit backwoods if that is the correct term I can use. My son had to get his green cast off and a new one put on. They are also doing a bone scan as soon as I can schedule it today because the hand specialist doesn't think its broke where the orthopedics thought it was broke. Its a huge difference in healing time depending on what bone is broke. If its the one that the hand specialist thinks is broke he could be healed in 3 weeks and no surgery. If its the one the orthopedics think is broke it could be 8 more weeks and possible surgery. I will be calling the hospital as soon as they open to schedule the bone scan. My husband thinks its unnecessary to do the bone scan. Sometimes we feel that just because we have insurance they order all these tests that we really don't need. But if it will tell which bone it is for sure I am for it. I just want my son to be healed!

On another note I thought you all would like to see my adorable westie Aspen. Isn't' he a goof ball! :) Gotta love him.

Poorman's Steak

The recipe was requested so here it is!

Poorman's Steak

1lb ground beef(or turkey)
1/2 C crushed crackers
1/2 C water
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

Mix all and form in really flat thin patties. You can either bake or fry in a pan. I usually fry them in a pan with spray oil. They are super yummy! :)
